Every piece of plastic that you remove from the marine environment is no longer a danger to the animals that still live there.
Every piece of litter you pick up off the beach or street will not enter the waterways and end up in the sea.
Every item prevented from the getting to the ocean will not degrade into thousands of tiny, toxic pieces of micro plastic and end up being ingested by fish or sea mammals.
Every item removed from a beach will not go on to kill.
Every item of plastic removed from your street, beach or park will help to improve it and improve the lives and businesses of people using it.
Every item you remove from the beach will be good for you too. Beach cleaning gets you outside, helps to keep you healthy and fit and feeling good, and enables you to take care of nature and take care of what is yours. That’s important!”
And if you fill a bag full of rubbish, take a pic and share it, you might encourage somebody else to do the same!
Always Remember
Enjoy your day at the beach, your number one priority is probably to have fun, don’t forget to bring plenty of water and sunscreen to keep yourself hydrated and protected from the sun.
Even in the UK on a cloudy day the sun can cause damage. Use a sunblock or sunscreen of at least factor 30 sunscreen preferably SPF50+, cover up with suitable clothing, a hat, and sunglasses.
Sunglasses – make sure it offers full UVA and UVB protection. Sunglasses with ‘UV400’ protection will filter out 99% of UV light. It’s important to remember that the darkness of your sunglasses lenses has nothing to do with UV protection.
Spend time in the shade when the sun is strongest. In the UK, this is between 11am and 3pm from March to October. Find a shady spot if you can or a beach tent with UPF50+ UV Protection.
